I graduated from New York University in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in History and Marketing. Throughout my tenure at NYU I began tutoring and mentoring international students, both children and adults, in the art of the English Language and culture. I grew up in New York City surrounded by multiple cultures on a consistent basis and understood the difficulties international students have immersing themselves into the United States.
I moved to San Diego in 2012 and received my TESOL and Linguistics Certifications and became a professional educator. Teaching was in my blood and I followed my dream. There is something special about watching students learn and thrive both in and outside the classroom. As a teacher, we have a important role in each students life and the ability to create a positive impact that will resonate in the future.

INTERMEDIATE Class Teacher
I am a passionate communicator with 10 years of ESL teaching experience. I have a Bachelor’s in Communications and Social and Behavioral Sciences, with a minor in Business from University of Central Florida. I also have a TESOL certificate. Teaching has always been my passion, and I used to teach my dolls when I was a child!
I became a teacher when I was only 19 years old and I lived in the south of Brazil. I fell in love with this profession and I find great fulfillment in watching my students develop communications and language skills. I love languages and different cultures and I believe we have so much to learn from each other. I create a friendly environment in my classroom so that my students feel comfortable with asking questions and making mistakes (that’s how we learn!).
I’ve taught children, teenagers in many study abroad summer camps, and adults with different needs such as business English and corporate lessons. I also tutor college-level writing students and teach Portuguese and a second language for corporate programs. I’ve learned that compassion is one of the greatest skills a teacher can have because we are able to connect through our hearts in the learning process. I believe in creativity and I like incorporating interesting facts about the world in my lessons and because of that my students have the ability to communicate in English in a variety of scenarios.
A little bit about me: I love traveling, meeting people, learning languages and of course, eating anything I want to try! Oh, and I love the ocean and sharks! I hope you can feel my passion for education when you’re in my classroom!

Liza Melanie Ostolaza
After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a psychology degree, I moved to Brooklyn to rekindle my first love: theatre. In between stage managing and play writing for a dual language theatre, I found my passion for languages, culture and their relationship. I’ve taught ESL and Spanish to adults and children in various centers throughout the city, working mainly with Special Education students. A year ago, I traded Broadway for sunshine and haven’t looked back. I recently received my TESOL certification from TESOL Training International and I’m very excited to be part of the Internexus family. In my classroom, we are a team. We all teach; we all learn.
